I took a couple of test pictures today. I got to try out various luminations of the tank. All equipment is still in the tank and the different backgrounds doesn’t cover the whole tank etc Regarding the scape, it will be changed. I’m going to try to pull everything closer to the middle, creating an “island”. But I’m going to keep the “valley”. It’s not visible, but I’m waiting for my limnophila to come up just behind the green part on the left. It will be a red silverlining and hopefully look great. The rest of the pictures with different backgrounds are under “Gallery”. I gladly accept pointers!

Due to  several reasons I’ve not updated my blog. But now I’m back! However, this blog is going to change.

I have not figured out yet what I’m going to do. Perhaps maybe cutting back on the “blog” part and only show photographs. And not only about aquascaping, but other scenarios too. Well, I have not made up my mind yet.. For now, enjoy a nice bubble from my HC carpet.

Well, I threw out the old mosscoated driftwood. It wasn’t really doing it for me. In with a new one. Covered it with peacock moss and alot of fishing-line. Replanted all needlegrass I had and bought some new plants. Mixed it all up and got myself a new layout! I’ll post some photos when it grows in. I also bought 4 new fishes. A pair of Ap. Borelli and a pair of Ap. Macmasteri. I’m feeding them red worms so hopefully they’llshow their true color soon.

I went for a walk through bokskogen (a small forrest just outside Malmö) yesterday with my camera. You can find the best photos I took in the gallery. All is taken with my Macro-lens. I also added this photo of my newly bought Crinum calamistratum (atleast I think it is called that).

This years AGA competition is over (http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2007.cgi). And there are some very beautiful tanks. My goal is to enter and compete next year, but then I need a bold and good looking tank. During these last 2 weeks, I’ve been trying to figure out a layout which makes the viewer go, WOW. But it isn’t easy. Plenty of times when I’d say to myself, now you got it, I’d see someone with a similar design. Where do one go from doing a great tank to beeing a copycat? My conclusion is first of all doing a tank that is pleasant to the viewer and not worry about beeing a copycat.

I finally got everything I needed to take good macro-pictures. The last thing I needed was an ETTL off shoe cabel. 700 swedish crowns for 60cm cabel, Canon really knows how to charge! But you can see that it was worth it on the left. The shrimp is frpm Peterhaack on www.plantswap.se. A beautiful Crystal Red grade S.

My girlfriend bought me a vacation to sunny Egypt. We went to Hurghada last week. The hotel was alright with a big pool and own beach, but it could have been better (or worse for that matter). Before summer started I bought a watersafe-housing to my small digital camera and it came well to use now! I’m going to put up some pictures and movies later this week. About the tank, well you can see what has happened to it on the left. It’s amazing if you compare it to the photos taken 1 month ago. But then again, I’m biased.. 

I bought some FERTISOIL from aquatic nature. I wanted to see how it would do in one of my nanos. I’m not really that impressed. But I’ll give it some time then report on how it’s doing. I also bought a Canon SPEEDLITE 580 EX II flash. It wasn’t that expensive as one might think because I got my sister to buy it in the states where it’s so much cheaper than here in Sweden. And about one week ago I bought a Macro-lens. I wanted the Canon 100mm one, but settled for Sigmas 70mm. Since I’m a newbie in photographing I can’t say much about it, except it takes good pictures. I also purchased 5 Crystal Red Shrimp grade S to the 112L tank. The goal is to have them survive and then reproduce. One of my Black Crystal Shrimp is pregnant and I hope it will go well so I can have small baby-shrimplets running around in the tank.

My dosing regime is now:

• 0.3krm KNO3 6x week
• 0.3krm K2SO4 3x week
• 0.1krm KH2PO4 3x week
• 5ml TMG 3x week
• 4ml Easycarbo 7xweek
• 6drops Liquid Ferrogan 7x week
• 10krm CaCL2 and 5krm MgSO4 as a GH-Boost with every waterchange.

My glosso really grows fast. It takes it 1 week before forming a dense carpet and then it becomes overgrown by itself. Not very nice and who wants to prune it every week? I’m thinking of taking it out and replacing it with Utricularia Gramminifolia. All plants seem to do very well now except for my Rotala Macrandra. It seems to grow just fine but the slightly older leaves start to shrivel and look somewhat dull. I really don’t know what to do..
